George Hollerbach is a Senior Principal Engineer based in New Jersey with more than 35 years of experience focused on water and wastewater, remediation, construction management, environmental health and safety (EHS), and pharmaceutical projects.
Having a strong background in many process industries, George's specialties include industrial wastewater treatment and process emission control in the pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and gas, food, and pulp and paper industries. Examples of George's diverse practice experience include serving as a: temporary EHS Director for several large pharmaceutical organic synthesis plants during management transition; wastewater consultant to a PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) member pharmaceutical company during rulemaking of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Effluent Guidelines, which led to the negotiation of favorable changes to the proposed rule; Program and Construction Manager for a six-acre 8,000 chemical drum landfill New York State Superfund site, implementing various remedial components consisting of drum removal, groundwater treatment system design and construction, interim air sparging and vacuum extraction, and final capping; and Remediation Program Manager for a major pharmaceutical company, managing a portfolio of 20 remediation projects at orphan or formerly-owned domestic and international facilities.
George has served as an adjunct professor of Construction Management at Stevens Institute of Technology and has volunteered to speak on project management principles at several environmental and civil engineering programs at Virginia Tech and New Jersey Institute of Technology. With a strong background in environmental, chemical, and pharmaceutical engineering, he has supported many capital projects in the development and installation of newly constructed wastewater treatment and air pollution control systems. He has also assisted many pharmaceutical facilities in the decommissioning and demolition of obsolete pharmaceutical facilities. George is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE), a life member in the Water Environment Federation, a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers, and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
